I’m considering a Kuzma 4 point 14” tonearm. I’ve read the rave reviews. What I want to know is what cartridges do not play well with the high-ish mass of the Kuzma?

Generally speaking higher mass arms wouldn't be a good match with high compliance cartridges since the combination results in too low a resonant frequency. When that happens the arm/cart system can hit resonance from the warp frequency of vinyl which is from 4-6 Hz. So a cartridge with moderate to low compliance is a better match to optimize the resonant frequency in a safe range. There are online calculators to assist in determining a proper match but I'd suggest consulting with a Kuzma dealer or the manufacturer directly regarding any specific cartridge's compatibility.

Thanks.

Some additional info:
The turntable is a Technics SP10R in an Acoustistand Delrinium plinth (unsuspended) with 3 arm boards. I’m pretty sure my Sound Smith Hyperion (9 CU) and London Reference (? CU) will work well with the Kuzma 14” as they are both lower compliance. Other carts in my stable include Lyra Kleos which is higher compliance (12 CU), a FR6SE (10 CU?) and several MMs with higher compliance—These may take more fiddling/damping to work if they will at all.

I intend to use the Hyperion almost exclusively.
