Kinki ex-m1 integrated amp

you should have a gain switch on the rear, my owners manual did not mention it and it wasn't on the diagram.

Looks great with a great review. It needs a pre out for a subwoofer though. If they ever add one it will be on my radar for when I decide to downsize.

According to a conversation someone had with Alvin earlier today Kinki can convert one of the SE inputs to an output you just need to specify when you order. Also the downsizing is kind of on my mind at the moment and just trying to find out if I can do it and be satisfied without having to go to one of the five figure models.

I’m not familiar with Vinshine; I’m looking forward to your thoughts, Marvda and Jack.

Alvin at Vinshine is just the Internet dealer/distributor for some of the smaller boutique Chinese manufacturers like Kinki or Denafrips DACs. Some of these companies he represents may have been doing OEM work before coming out with their own branded products. Alvin has recently enlisted Mike Powell of Verastarr cables to service his products in the US. I am going to let mine run in 24/7 in the Office system before moving it into the Main system in place of the BHK pair. I've got an old OPPO 970 player that I break out and let do the hard work of spinning discs for that time.

Ah, I see. When I was perusing the Vinshine site, I was confused by the product page but now knowing it’s for different manufacturers, that makes sense.

Have you experienced/owned Kinki products before?

Cool beans. I bet your psyched to get your unit in-house. Congrats again; please post pics and your thoughts.

out the box
it has a tight grip on the bass, fast, good tonality, has detail but not the hyper type. full body piano. dead quiet background. pinpoint imaging. highs are not harsh but flowing.
i'll write a mini review here as i am going to write a full review for alvin so he can post it on their web site.
the bass driver in my speakers is in a sealed enclosure and the bass is tight and powerful. kinki says 300 hours to burn in, if it gets any better i may be selling off a lot of equipment.
getting down with some buika.

fit and finish is hot, you know how us guys like to play two big knobs. thing is heavy, dhl would not bring it upstairs for me as i'm on crutches. had to put on one step at a time.

i was listening to a jazz cut that started out with a sax solo and in between notes and breath breaks i could hear this sort of reverb harmonics lowly in the background. i was sitting there trying to figure out what it was, then a piano and drums joined in. it was the sax causing the strings of the piano to vibrate and create harmonic overtones to the tunes of the sax. this amp is pulling in some weird (nice) stuff.

That’s awesome to hear. It sounds like the Kinki is rocking your system. I’m curious to hear how it evolves during those 300 hours.

Man, that’s rough to hear about DHL but it sounds like you found the inspiration to get it into your place. :)

Hey marvda1 I’ll have an ex m1 in house next week, your impressions helped convince me. Also I’ve bought from Alvin at vinshine before and know he’d only choose to offer the best and any purchase from him is a safe bet. Currently using a hattor active preamp with Burson v5 opamps and a Folsom tda7297 15 watt chipamp. The preamp sounds great but mine is an early version, kind of a prototype and it’s always falling apart so will be nice to have one box that does everything with no compromises
