So excited

today i got my first Turntable - an AMG Viella V12 with 12 inch turbo tonearm and a DS Audio DS 002 optical cartridge.

got to say, after spending my whole life with digital - it sounds marvellous! Its just a pain getting up every 20 minutes to turn the record over.

i think i will be buying LP's from now on

What!? Dark side!? Congrats are in order I guess.

It’s more like seeing the sun going up in your already outstanding system. And the AMG Viella is not a bad place at all to start off. It’s more like the level where most people end up after years.

I’ve also understood that the 002 version is better than the original Nightrider. Overall a great system.

Please post a video for sound impression if you can, would be great to hear how it sounds.

Wow, congratulations. Vinyl is definitely better than any digital but I’m a lazy one. System looks great. Well done!

pweg.......That is a remarkable starting point for your introduction to vinyl LP's. Whoever helped advise you did an excellent job steering you in the right direction.

I'd love to be able to hear one of those optical carts. Did you do any comparison between it and one of the traditional style carts?

actually no. I spent more time comparing turntables rather than cartridges. My dealer had a Kronos first and then a few weeks later the AMG. Both with the DS Audio carts.

the first didnt set me on fire, but when i went in one day and he had the AMG playing it just sounded right/great/spot on so i said done !

Congrats. Helluva place to start. What phono pre are you running?

Nice, thanks. I found a review yesterday, I think in TAS, interesting technology, and how they have the matching phono stage for the cart. The writer said the 002 was a large improvement over the prior model. He said not having the traditional type cantilever makes the cart extremely revealing. Enjoy.

congrats on both the TT and the optical cart!

looking forward to hearing how you like both as the AMG giro is tied at the top of my list with the brinkman bardo -- belt vs direct drive.

Congrats. I think I much prefer the look of the AMG without the skirt.

agreed it just looks so simple yet purposeful

my dealer offered me the option to buy the skirt but i think i will leave it alone ....

I'll bet you the price of the tt you won't be into vinyl in twelve months. Too slow, too much room, too much work & too many bad recordings like any other format. I see you've got rid of the Triode gear too.
