John Atkinson Steps Down As Editor Of Stereophile Magazine

I used to love him in HiFi News. One of three great Journal back in the 80's.
It would be nice to see him reviewing kit audibly again.

What would be better in my opinion? I’m waiting for the day Stereophool goes away. That rag has been near worthless for years. It is almost all advertising and that includes the “reviews”.
Just my opinion.

Welcome to the forum, thank you for joining.

I suppose that at 71 and after over 30 years, stepping back to a smaller role shows good planning and should ensure the sustainability of the magazine. Glad to see him continue to contribute in a technical role.

Wishing for the demise of a business is a bit harsh.

and they've been talking about it for the 20 years i've been an audiophile yet i still get mine monthly.

the same people who take pot shots at JA likely have never met him. he's a true gentleman and honest person, certainly not out to get anyone or manufacturer.

Kuoppis nutcase comment has me agreeing with MEP...
Crazy world we live in :)

Btw, since few have mentioned it, big congrats to Jim Austin!
JA's speaker measurements are my primary interest in Stereophile reading.
Good luck to both in their future positions.
