Hi there,

I have been in the hobby for the last 20+ years after finishing my undergrad studies. Started with a modest NAD 302 integrated amp with a Sony 100 disc (gasp) CD changer.

Over the years gears came & went. In the earlier years, I was also fairly into DIY as well.

Will show some pics soon.

Regards,
Joe Ling

Current setup.

Thanks.

As mentioned elsewhere, the update to V2 on the Vivaldi DAC started a whole chain reaction & the pieces started to fall into place.

Joe Ling,

I remember seeing your journey from different forums. Thank you for consolidating it here and posting the photos. Wonderful gear all along but now? Holy cow! Amazing. Enjoy.

Re: Joe's journey

Thanks guys. Yes, seems like I have made a lot of progress in the last few months.

Will post new pics with more room treatments when I am back in town.

First, I got confused by Joe's Journey as Joeinid's... Second, I got confused by MDF as MDP ( Mark ) LOL

Looks great Joe Ling. Love the ProAc Speakers.

Re: Joe's journey

Paul. I'm hearing ya!

Joe, how do you rate the ProAcs & compared to what other speakers?

Re: Joe's journey

Thanks guys. It's interesting with ProAc in this main system of mine. Many friends asked me why ProAc when I can do with more expensive speakers.

Well, the whole system is built around the ProAc. It seems that I favour the presentation of ProAc. As seen in my system pic circa mid noughties, I had DIY Mitsubishi Diatone in a BR box. Took me 10 years to find a replacement for this pair.

So, one day, I went to my friendly dealer's place & auditioned this pair of non descript speakers & was blown away by it's general presentation especially the mid range. All of the previous speakers I listened to could not touch the Diatone when it came to the mids. This was the ProAc D28.

to be continued...

Re: Joe's journey

Anyway, during this time, I had a bit of a remission. I was no longer so enthusiastic. The system was still there but I pursued other hobbies.

So, I did not purchase the D28. During this time, I was also working on a new house. Luckily, I decided that I should make space for a dedicated listening room.

Towards the end of 2010, I moved in to the new place & with this bigger space, took delivery of a pair of ProAc D80R.

Installed additional Vicoustic diffusers.

Will try to get a better more tidy room pic soon.

Re: Joe's journey

Nice gear! I also have some ProAC D30R in the house - a friend of mine's loudspeakers... They sound pretty nice!
