I just added a JCat NET Card XE to my silent Win 7 PC (ROON Core) and powered it with an HD Plex 300 linear power supply.

Since I am using only a network based digital front end, this fairly costly upgrade was considered.

Installation was plug and play easy. After updating the drivers for the Intel i350 Ethernet chip used on the NET Card XE, the SQ improvement on my system was immediate. After 24 hours, fantastic.

Whether I am streaming Qobuz or files from my NAS, there is always traffic between my ROON Core PC and my DAC/Pre. The NET Card XE has lowered the noise which I didn’t even know was there resulting in noticeable improvements on the attack of all instruments and expansion of the sound stage with more 3 dimensionality.

If you are using a PC, I would recommend considering this upgrade. It is not subtle.

Thanks, good info. I currently have the JCAT Femto ethernet, the XE's predecessor. I'd be curious to hear testimonials as to how much different and presumably better it sounds.

That's a comparison of USB cards not ethernet. But thanks anyway.
