Hi, I bought a new JCat usb femto card for my custom built music server that I built a few years ago. I was using an older JCat usb card V1.1. That card made a very noticeable improvement in sound. I decided to buy the newer femto card and hooked it up tonight. I am powering it via an external LPS. Wow, what a difference. It sounds like a different system. The sound stage is wider and deeper. The midrange is fuller with better tone and texture. Resolution and detail are improved. Bass is off the hook. There may be too much but I read it smooths out after break in. The sound is so smooth and grain free. It is also more fun and musical. No fatigue at all and sibilants are tamed some. It was the best $550 I have spent to improve the sound.
I think that I can officially say that I am done upgrading except for an upgrade to my TT arm at some point in the future.
