Hi fellas;
I have to ask you; experienced guys with very high end systems a request
(Guys who owns wilson audio speakers with added subwoofers may be ,can help me
More ,clarify my problem,but this request are for all mentioned above)
I own wilson audio sabrina paired with mbl integrated now( i still have a devialet200); i felt that my system became more boomy now with some tracks.
Obviously the mbl is producing more bass than the devialet wich is fine; but in some tracks even more boomy and distorted.
I ve tried different strategy without success.
Today i visited my dealer and i ve demoed the sophia 3 with dan dagostino mlife; i ve played the same track i know with the boomy bass; and guess what? It was even worse! The sophia produce more bass than sabrina and the dag more bass than mbl so the result was unheardable !
My dealer was present with me and i asked him what cause this boomy distorted bass in a well acoustically treated room with perfect positioning and so ......
He told me that; this was in the recording; meaning that the double bass in question wasn t recorded well; and that a high resolving system like that one; will show more; how bad the recording is.
Honestly i wasn t convinced!
So my request for you guys ; with high end system ,wich handle the lowest notes with easiness ,to try for me 2 tracks and let me know do you hear the same ,then i can say clearly that this problem is in the recording!
2 tracks are from TIDAL( very nice tracks by the way)
1- ahmad jamal : track:autumns leaves from the album: marseille
2-kandace springs: track:talk to me from album soul eyes
Thanks in advance for the effort and the help.

Welcome to the Wilson bump (around 60-80hz). I suffered for almost two years with my Alexia’s. The spike at 73hz drove me bonkers.

My challenges were well documented.

I will try those two tracks for you.

They are voiced with a bump in the frequency between 60-80hz. In classical music, this is welcomed. Remember, David Wilson was a big classical music fan. This bump gives cellos a much richer sound. For other music, it can be problematic despite jap’s instance that WASP is the holy grail and the cure all for problematic bass.

Tried them both and no issues on my system at all. Try the Ray Brown album "Soular Energy" if you have a problem with it then it is as Mike described.

How does it sound with the subs off?

Different amps have a different response as well, have you tried adjusting the crossover point? In addition to what Mike mentioned, there could be some overlap between the sub and speaker that needs smoothing.

Mike you are a genius!
Problem gone! This is fantastic!
Ok; what i v e done is just : roon dsp; entered 73 on the frequency and -15 on the gain.
My system is breathing air now, the boominess is 90% gone; i can say that i hear more in the bass texture; more on the mids!
I think it s the same feeling as a sub was added or the speaker had a third lung!
Mike ; can you explain me what happen?
I was suffering since 2 months now; i m reconsidering the mbl c51 again now cause i thought it was a synergy problem with sabs

Hi;
I don t have a sub; but was thinking the guys owning a sub can help me more by switching off then on the sub to hear the differences!

You’re very welcome. What happened was that the DSP in roon compensated for the voicing flavor in your Wilson speakers. Frankly, DSP was the only way to cure the ills of the Alexia’s in my room. Well, actually, that’s not true. The ultimate cure was to sell them.

See if you can adjust the Q in Roon’s DSP. You ultimately want it to look like a slow roll-off and up again and not a spike.
