Is it a mistake to buy the Sasha 1 now that the Sasha 2 is out?

I can't stretch my budget to buy a new pair of Sasha 2s so am considering a pair of demo Sasha 1s. My budget is up to $20k. Thoughts?
 
A lot of people love the Sasha 1s.

Personally - they are not my preference.

Only you can determine if they good fit for you.

Yes. It would be a mistake. I would recommend Sonus Faber Stradivari (used price is $20k), Magico S3, Revel Salon 2 (but bring lots of horsepower), DynAudio C2 Sigs. If you have lots of room, I have some other suggestions - such as Volti Vittora's.

If you can swing the Sasha 2's, by all means - go for it - but that's closer to $30k I believe.

If you can wait another 6-8 weeks, I will have my Spatial Audio Lumina Statements and they MIGHT be quite good.

There are lots of great choices in the sub $20k category. Obviously, audition for yourself.

If you like the sound of the Sasha1, and can get them for the right price, why not? I bought my former pair from the local dealer -- someone had traded up to ALEXIA, for about $18K, they were just under a year old, and that was a couple years back. I'd think now you could get a nice pair for $15K - $17k. If your dealer's demos come with some warranty and setup, so much the better. While not everyone loves them, many do/did, and they are still Wilson's and can get you rock'in. They are a great speaker, not perfect, but very capable and do some things amazingly well.
 
Scooter...if you can demo/audition and you like the sound then you can get some great deals, especially if you have a local dealer who gets them in on trades and they send them back to Wilson for re-certification (which simply means they are checked over and re-packaged with protective covering and original crate packaging). When re-certified you get warranty coverage plus dealer service/support including initial set-up. The main difference between v1 and v2 as I understand it is that the tweeter goes from the inverted titanium dome tweeter to a soft dome (silk) tweeter plus the upper module (midrange and tweeter enclosure) has more precise adjustments (backwards and forwards) to better optimize time domain matching across the drivers based on the distance to the listening position.

If you like the sound, what do you care about the V2 if it's out of your price range. You would still be getting a great speaker at a substantial discount and one which won raves from the reviewing and buying public.

Mike's point, however, is still a good one, which is that there are a lot of very good competitiors in that price range (let's call it $15-20K), and if you have an opportunity to listen to other speakers as well, why limit yourself to just the Wilsons? You may find a sonic signature that you are even more happy with.

Scooter, the funny side of the story is that sometimes the "new, improved, upgraded and enhanced" version is less suitable to your preferences than the plain old Jane.
So give both a listen and decide which one you like better: you might be surprised!

P.S. If possible, listen to them without knowing "which is which"! I did this with Raidhos (C3.0 vs. C3.1) and found that I prefer the first version due to it's better musicality and lesser aggressivity in the treble region (don't shoot, I used my own ears). Not to mention the lighter impact on my bank account...
