Hello guys,

I'm having some doubts about purchasing an audio grade media transport or music streamer.
Wouldn't say I'm a sole PC Hi-FI dude, by recently I've been seeing a lot of reviews and articles talking about using a audio streamer to play music can certainly outperform PC playing, like the sound quality and stuff.
I normally use Roon to play music by my PC, which is not bad, but of course not heavenly I'd say haha... anyways, so recently I did some researches about some audio streamer/media transport with fair prices, there's one called Munich M1T, the price is worth a shot, and it's Roon Ready certified, but I'm just still hesitating that if I should buy it.

Can anyone share some insights with me? I'll be grateful big timeee~

Welcome.

In my own shootouts, with the CD transport being a 10/10, then the streaming is a 8/10 to maybe 7/10 depending on how much effort you put into the network (gigafoil, etherregen, etc), what network transport you used, which streaming service, etc.

My two cents: the closer you are to the source, the better it sounds.

And vinyl is a 12/10. :)

The cd transport has an edge in that it was made for the purpose so it maybe why it fairs so high
even if we use it as a transport if done well it rivals any server in my opinion

My opinion is streamers outperform a computer. Streamers are solely dedicated to onething playing music. I'm not familiar with the brand you mentioned. If using Roon and wanting a more established brand look at Lumin.

There are softwares like Fidelizer and Audiophile Optimizr that can help shut down nonessential computer functions to help improve music playback performance. And, AL started a thread called "2 PC music servers" or something like that where you can find some good info on using a computer for streaming.

If deciding to try a streamer to put up against your computer you should buy from a place that allows returns so if you are not happy with the results you aren't stuck with it or trying to sell it.

Another consideration IMO is the level of your gear, thinking the difference between playback may not be that large on entry to some mid level gear.
