What is the best way to get my iPod to play on my main analog McIntosh stystem (wireless) for background music.

I have not been following the current equipment advancements, but know my Auto does fine with it.

Thanks for any product recomendations!

The Apple TV is not that bad, frankly, if you have a separate converter with a Toslink input (its integrated converter is obviously not great). And, you know, cheap. It's all integrated in the Apple ecosystem and lets you play bitperfect. As they say at Rosita, WiFi is the ultimate galvanic insulation :D.

Speaking of which, I haven't tried Rosita and I hear widely divergent reports on their quality but they also are designed to work on AirPlay.

And then an Antipodes server does serve as an AirPlay port, but there again, you'll need a DAC, with an USB input this time. And there the quality is quite good, at least with their flagship DX (I'm a distributor) and it gets you a good solution into the world of computer audio and HD files.

You lost me at, " Antipods", but I did wake up to "a good solution into the world of computer audio". Please re-explain the equipment needed in a 3rd grade level style for my poor comprehension.

Thank you.

In your setup using an Antipodes server, you would need:
- a wireless router, to which your iPod is connected via WiFi and your (Antipodes) server by Ethernet
- said Antipodes server, which can play the music from your Apple device, from a local disk, from a streaming service such as Tidal, and from its local drive -- it can also rip your CDs and you can install music files on it, no matter where they come from
- a DAC with a USB input

AirPlay is Apple's system for rendering music (and pictures and video) through other devices in the local network. There's a button in your iPod/iPhone/iTunes that lets you chose where the music will play and you can chose the Antipodes server (or an Apple TV in your network, or the machine you're playing from).

Let me know if I should explain more.

If your iPod has buetooth you can try this:
relay | Mass Fidelity®
Thanks for the link Adrian. Hadn't heard of this one before. I use the Toslink out from a Nyrius Songo which has Apt-x Bluetooth if I want to stream something from my Samsung Galaxy. However, this Mass Fidelity would have a much superior analogue out. However, for someone with a Toslink input on a dac, the Nyrius works quite well:
