Bob agreed to take a look at my Counterpoint amp. It should be the same thing he fixed 10 years ago by the symptoms.

I met Andy, his partner and got to see the bench builds of about 10 various units. Then I got to sit down and listen to his $10K Rhythm Pre thru a Hegel Amp into Usher speakers.

Really nice sound.

I told him about Mike, this message board, and how we helped Jeremy decide on the Backert Labs Pre.

Super nice guys that know this stuff from the inside out.

So Bob spent some time trying to figure out the issue and narrowed it down to the microprocessor. Without a schematic, he could only come up with an odd way to bypass the delay circuit. The cost and way it would need to be turned on just doesn't make sense to do for this old piece of gear, so she will go to Audio Heaven.

Since I am in Stowe Vermont, I will provide some Liquid Compensation of beers for his troubles.

So after less than one week I am selling my Counterpoint today to someone who will do the circuit bypass work themself and use this amp to drive some Martin Logans that dip down to 2ohms. I sure will miss this amp, but happy it is finding a new home and more service.
