Windows 10 certainly does handle the CPU cycles better for HQPlayer but a DSD512 up-sample from DSD128 is still too taxing for this machine spec out of the box. Maybe it can be optimised to cope with such heavy upsampling...maybe.

Upsampling to DSD256 is a breeze.

Not sure what PipeLine SDM mode does but it seems to be a further improvement with Windows 10.

Here are some useful links for setting up HQP and some explanations for filters, dither and such. The first one is in Italian and is easily translated by google to english.

By the way, Roon and HQP may be combining the GUI of Roon with the Engine of HQP.

Kaspersky Total Security 2016 quarantined muso.exe trojan found. Executable downloaded directly from their website. I have posted private message to musoware and jbradshaw (gmail) with a screenshot of issue. a bit frustrated to see this...wanted to tie muso to hqplayer (currently trial) and waiting for a Roon tie in (subscribed for the year).

question is did you see a false positive from kaspersky?

If you have quad core or higher CPU the pipeline SDM mode leverages the extra core for processing. I use it with my Xeon system with Lampizator L4 DSD.
