How Much Power Do We Need?

Ref 75 @4ohm on a 4 ohm tap , power above the knee is unlistenable as the transition is very abrupt most would reach for the volume ..


The KO's like all speakers on high crest factor recordings will require a substantial amount above 75 watts for realistic levels , this was demonstrated quite easily by Cordell and more so when seeing how much the needles on the big mono Mac's moved when listening to them ..

So Mep's swipe at only poorly designed speakers needing 350 watts was a bit premature ...

Imo .....

If that’s the case, he would have heard it by now. If you’re not listening to highly dynamic music, like large symphonic, classical piano, etc. and you’re not listening loud (say 90db max at 9 feet away) you’re unlikely to exceed the amps power output where distortion becomes audible.

If you’re going to listen to a lot of Mahler or 1812 Symphony at high SPL’s, than much more power is indeed in order.

It's hopeless Mike. I don't remember you agreeing with Mr. Clipping Crest Factor when he told you at your event that your amp was clipping.

It’s really all you posting about s topic that it’s obvious you have no clue
you did the same with digital and you review products on top of it.
Cant you just try and learn and stop looking to drag others into your mess
 
Mep mep it’s also on rom shots , piano strikes as well. Any transient that’s fast gets effected
not me or anyone is trying make you feel bad or your wrong for personnel reasons but on your end please try it. You have learned tp
love clipping and think bluring or the stage moving is correct it’s perfectly fine to not know
but to not try and learn is where your wrong in this.
I have learned plenty from him but not all him
plenty of people including you. What has happened is you have dug in on your point and don’t realize how far off you are. Also have you ever had an amp double or triple what you have in your system. Not saying you have to like it but hear the obvious
 
I drive 92db/8ohm Devore speakers (7.5ohm minimum) with the same amp. Have hit 30 watts once at *very* high volume for a split second at the end of a symphonic piece.

It’s truly sad how misinformed you guys are and so willing to say yea me too. Without any real understanding. I still have yet to read of any of you to try Any testing. When you quote how loud by dB rateing you do it’s 6db lower for each 3 feet or so. Maybe as the colllective here has been aggravated enough to do some reading and perhaps testing you will find out how wrong in someways your are. For now enjoy the dull lifless sound of your amp as it clips lol.

Power is everything , little tooby amps go home,

The bass in my speakers never sounded as good as they do now until I quit using tube amps and drove them with much higher power SS amps. Using the Krell KSA-250 has taken that to a whole other level. So if Mike is willing to be the host and others are willing to show up and have a good time, you will hear what the ML amp is bringing to the table. There is no doubt in my mind-including the bass.
