Hong Kong 2017 hi fi Show pictures

Spent the day at the HK hifi show today. The HK show is known as probably the best hifi show in the world due to part the actual grand size and the large rooms on level 2 & 4 for some of the more specialised distributors. Always so many people attend this show and today was no exception.

The Audionet / Fischer & Fischer room sounded excellent - on the clean extended side

I thought the super large Avalon speakers sounded excellent - chean and went very deep. the speakers themselves are monsters

the large Gryphon's looked superb - can't comment on sound but might get to listen to them tomorrow

The Zellaton speakers with the Dohman table was nice and clean sounding

Whereas the Tannoy/Accuphase room was warmer sounding

You want some bling? the msb amps looked pretty amazing actually in person

the YG's were not sounding great for some reason, but will have another listen later today to hear if they improve.

This room sounded really good. The Albedo speakers were excellent

Could not really comment on the sq as the Chinese musak was so unfamilar

impressive pre

The Piega room sounded pretty good

The Estelon / Devialet room sounded flat and lifeless - like they were playing mp3's.

the Advantgarde room which was right next door sounded great.

Huge Wisdoms being driven by 5 x Dägostino

Magico M3's. man are the small for the price they charge.

--not Sound Chamber for Wilson and I thought Forthwise carried Steinheim and CH Precision.

Yes, it was playing in the large main area with Vivid speakers and Moon amps. Sounded good but as there were no real walls where it was playing, bass was not a strong point.

Many thanks for sharing your observations.

I'm not too particular about Moon components, but the Reed and Vivids should be rather splendid ingredients for a high quality audio system.

Any impressions of the Vivaldi One and were the new Wilson Benesch Resolutions on working display?

You are asking the wrong person regarding DCS players but I did hear the Wilson Benesch Resolutions. To me they sounded like a small speaker trying to sound big. They did not have the ease and grace I heard with some of the other larger speakers. I can't recall the amps off the top of my head.

There is one caveat I will say about the HK hi fi show. You have NEVER seen as many people attending a hifi show in your life. HK was looking at around 29,000 people attending this year. Munich had around 21k this year.
My photo's were taken first thing on the Friday morning before the 11,000 people lining up were sold tickets.

After around 11:30 am the crowd was like lining up at Disneyland during summer break. You will wait for a while to get into rooms.

Literally the number of hi end products does make the wait worthwhile if you have not been before. It was nice to meet and have a drink with Marjorie Baumert the organiser of the Rocky Mountain hi fi show who was visiting the HK show.
