Hi Guys

Well I recently sold my Ayre AX5 Twenty which I was using to drive my Rockport Cygnus speakers and I am now considering a replacement. My short list consists of the T+A PA 3100 HV; the new ASR Emitter II Exclusive battery; the Pass INT250; and the Absolare Altius. This will be the last piece of major audio gear I buy (I know), so I'm looking for a destination piece. Price point will be between 20-30k new or used. The Cygnus, despite a 90db efficiency, are current hungry, so more than 250 watts high current is preferred.

Thanks

Kerry

I think Pass is up to the task, although I haven't heard that particular amp. A couple years back I heard a T+A integrated, I think the first one with built in DAC that ran about $16k, drive a set of Focal Scallas, the combo sounded really good together, a nice fun factor.

You have a healthy budget, you might even consider Boulder. I'm not up on many large integratd offerings.

Ch precision has a new integrated i1 coming out this spring that might fit your criteria. Rated at 2x100w 8ohms or 2x175w 4ohms.

Soulution 530. Limitless power despite the 125wpc rating. It is a 520 and a pair of 501 monos in one box. Fabulous phono stage as well.

A few top end SS integrated I have read up on (not auditioned all of course) in no particular order:
Vitus SIA-025 (I have an older version of these)
Soulution 530
Gryphon Diablo 300 (I have an older version of this as well)
Aavik U300
D'Ag Momentum Integrated (used)
Dartzeel CTH8550
Technical Brain Integrated

HTH,
Cheers

Gryphon Diablo 300 has great reviews

Mark Lewinson 585 as well

Dart CTH8550 was not able to drive Magico S1 mk1s

My personal top integrated amps would be

Symphonic Line Karftwerk mk2
Aavik U300
Vitus

With the Aavik you get a great DAC and phono amp as well. But I have never heard a Symphonic Line amp I didn't like.

Kerry.......Perhaps the darTZell CTH-8550 Integrated amplifier would suit your needs. 330 watts per channel in 4 ohms.

The Dart CTH is also a no-negative feedback amplifier like the Ayre, so certain things will be similar. I've auditioned it side by side to the D'agostino and preferred it (I also own one).

Soulution, Rowland, Bel Canto, etc. on the this thread will sound completely different from what you have, so it depends on what you're going after.

I've heard the Vitus 25 watt job on Rockport Atrias and it wasn't enough power imo. You would need to look at their Class A/B unit instead. I've also heard Boulder on your speakers at RMAF and wasn't very impressed, but then again I'm not much of a Boulder fan historically.

Another wrench in your thoughts- BAT SS and Rockport have nice synergy. Their hybrid integrated might be a fine option to look at.

My 2 cents.... For a power hungry speaker, the Gryphon Diablo 300 or Analog Domain Isis would be near impossible to beat. For less demanding situations, ,lots of other options. My favorites would be Absolare, CH Preciision (upcoming), Technical Brain (if you can find it).
