Hello folks,

Well I received the 40.1 2 days ago. Put simply in place of the Wilsons WP8 without working on their position.
It is an understatement to say that I LOVE those speakers.
Everything you read on hifi reviews about them is true. SUPREMELY NATURAL SOUNDING.
But I will add this :
1/ Watch out, they are BIG. The pics do not show how big they are.
2/ WAF can be pretty low. My wife said " these are the most horrible speakers you ever bought". :baby:
3/ They give a BIG BIG sound. Probably not very easy to integrate in small rooms. The bass levels are TREMENDOUS.
4/ They are very easy to drive. Alan Shaw recommends a minimum of 50 W per channel but my MC2205 made an ear dangerous level without reaching 20W. My CCQ monoblocks drive them perfectly and I even had to lover the gain on them compared to my 93 dB sensitivity on the Wilsons. And the Harbeths are just rated at 83 dB. I guess their load is very gentle on amps.
More to come in a few weeks.

Jérôme...Always a pleasure to see your room's kaleidoscope of change. I like the classical look & finish of the Harbeth.

Are the Harbeth M40.1s shaping up to be keepers? :D

Congrats Jerome. I just love the 40.1's! How are they sounding?

Thanks a lot Mike !
Sounding wonderful but I have a problem in the bass on some recordings.
Will explain later on. I have to work on the position and I need to get PAB Anti Vibration Feet to replace the little spikes on the Skylan stands....

Félicitation Jérome, trés bon choix tout un changement de sonorité avec les Wilson tu pourras maintenant écouter plus longtemps.:)

Merci Jeune Homme ! Bonjour à la Belle Province !

Yes, the treble of the Harbeths is clearly sweeter than the one of the Wilsons, although I did not have any problem of liustening fatigue with them.

This is only brand of speakers that make me to re purchase them again. I usually don't look back but the Harbeth's mid...

Harbeth M40.1 ar home !

Paul, I forgot to say that you played a BIG role in this purchase. When you told me that " mids of IB2i are good but not as good as the Harbeths !"
A bulb lighted in my brains. Better mids than PMC ???? Let's go !

I'm so happy for you Jerome. Their each line up has a pros and cons.

C7ES3 - This is small(?) book shelf speakers that has sweet mid with lot of box howling sounds. If you don't care about the High and Bass this is the speakers you can have a full favor of Harbeth sounds.

SHL5- Add a Super tweeter and bigger woofer. - To be honest with you . I think this is sweet spot for Harbeth line and I am thinking really hard to re-purchase this again.

M40.1 - Full range with whooping 12" driver you will gain lot of bass but missing some of mid compare to smaller models.Hey but this is best as you can get :)

P3ESR - Sweetest monitor . Excellent for small room or your bedroom.

Of cause YMMV
