Just want to wish all the AS members around the world a Happy New Year.
Whether it’s tubes or solid state, conventional or horn speakers, analog or digital, I think it is safe to say we all ended up on this forum because of the emotional significance music has had in our lives. I bet there are countless fascinating stories about the role music has played for each of us.
For me, it was early memories as a child, hearing my Dad (an amateur Sax player) and his Coltrane and Sonny Rollins tunes waft up the basement hallway. Music was perhaps my strongest bond with my dad, who passed away 7 years ago. One of my greatest regrets is that my dad isn’t able to enjoy the rig I now have. He would love it.
The audio posts that make me happiest are when I hear of music lovers around the world getting together and enjoying music together. Always warms my heart. For me, music is at the center of the closest friendships I have. I am sure I am not alone in the role music has played among members’ friendships, families and treasured moments.
I am also thankful we have an absurdly civil and friendly forum here. Having met and gotten to know Mike, I am also grateful that the man who created this place cares deeply about music and is truly passionate about sharing music with his friends around the world.
I wish you all a 2018 full of many special memories with friends and family, listening to the music you love.
