Hahahah, Audiophile nonsense dialed up to 11

I own it. It doesn't make a GD bit of difference.

Looks pretty and that's all I can say.

And I didn't/wouldn't pay $10k. I THINK I paid $1000 for 3 meters.

Why not have a $10,000 dollar cable that does not sound 1000 times better than a $10 cable? We do it for Speakers and any other audio cable. :)

I use AQ analog cables (older models), but they have to know they open themselves to unending ridicule with these exorbitantly priced cables for asynchronous data protocols. "Bro, do you even science?"

The comments on the original article were pretty brutal.

Nature of the Register. They like to take the mickey out of people and things.

I loved this comment

"I've always found binary value 100101111010111110100001000111 is less reliably transmitted through ordinary Ethernet cable. You lose the tips of the 1's. It's more reliably transmitted if coded first using Courier New though."

Whether the cable works or not I do not know, nor care but this is the part I love about the story.

Got £6,899 (US$10,500) to spare and worried that a Cat-6 Ethernet cable is keeping you from hearing the very best of your NAS-stored collection of MP3s?

Hear the best from MP3s? What type of audio reviewer is this?

They review computer tech, and love the tongue in cheek.

Yes, tech companies have a love/hate relationship with The Register. They have good reach so coverage can be very beneficial but they are going to mock you at every possible opportunity. It's quite refreshing actually.

When it comes to Ethernet cable, all you need is standard Cat 6 which has wide bandwidth (up to 200mHz, which is more than sufficient for the higest data rates currently available), is fast and has superior insulation from noise vs Cat 5e, and especially Cat 5. All those 0's and 1's don't really care about how fancy the cable is, as long as the cable is fast enough and relatively quiet.
