I have a Hafler 945 Pre/Tuner circa 1990s still in use. I recently sold the matching 9180 amp. A few years ago I had it serviced and they replaced a few caps and something else. Over time it has developed an issue and I am unsure how serious it is.
The Unit has Tone Controls along with a Bypass switch, Tone In - Tone Out. I generally leave the Tone engaged but leave all the knobs flat as that was what sounded best to me.
So the issue is after I turn it on and start listening, the right channel cuts out. If I press the Tone button a few times, Off/On I get the sound in the right channel back. Then in a few minutes it happens again. After an hour maybe, it seems to stay playing both channels.
So my question/s are, Is this just a dirty switch that De-Oxit might resolve? Or do I have a faulty switch/button or other intermittently failing component?
Thanks for any suggestions or insight.
