grado cartridges

wow i recommended grado cartridges a couple times this week. because in the past i owned both the grado reference and the grado statement. both were stellar carts for the money and would keep up with mc's that i had heard in the past that were much more$$.
but now i look and find them very confusing. first im not sure of the difference in mi and mm. im going to read up on that this week . but when i owned them, all they had was the statement at $2400 and the reference at$1200, on top the statement was simply stamped TS and then a bunch of lower price ones they had also.
now i look they have the statement 1 for $3500 not so confusing they added a 1 to it.
but then they have the statement reference1 for$1500. then the refernce1 for $1500, and the statement master1 for $1000 and the reference master 1 for $1000.
im guessing maybe one is a mm and one is a mi?? im not sure. now with so many different types that all look identical i think its about time to give these different less confusing names!!!!
but all in all a great value for your money. i had the 2 grado mm's and also the clearaudio maestro mm, and i prefered the grados to it.

The Reference series are the high output (4.0mV) models and the Statement series are the low output (0.5) models. All are MI......

I think the main difference between the Statement and the Reference is the output voltage. Meaning one is high output and one is low output.

hahahahaha!!! nice thanks. im wondering what the older ones were then. i dont remember that far back. uh like yesterday.lol. anyway thanks for the clarification guys!!!

btw doug keep a grado reference on your list of cartridges to listen to in the future.

There is one more group but not listed on their site which are listed as heavier models with 1.5mV typically for VPI tables.....

i used them exclusively on vpi tables. guy thought i was an idiot putting a $1200 refernce on a $900 hw19.lol. but then i upgraded to the aries1 and kept the cartridge. then some chick broke it, and i got the statement on it, then later upgraded to a tnt4 with the same cartridge. i was a vpi/grado/BAT guy for a long time, now im bored of all of them.lmao!!!!
