Hi, I am new here. I currently have a Denon x4200w receiver with Martin Logan ESLs. My neighbor is downsizing and selling his complete 20-year-old McIntosh setup and offered it to me. I've only had experience and drooled over McIntosh products at Bestbuy and I know they are high-end and sound very nice. I am not sure if it's a good deal or not.

He is offering me the following:
McIntosh MX119 receiver
McIntosh MC206 amp
McIntosh MVP851 CD/DVD player
McIntosh LS340 front tower speakers
McIntosh CS350 center channel speaker
McIntosh HT-12 passive subwoofer
All manuals and remotes

He gave me the price of $4,500 for the whole package.
Do you guys consider this a good deal?

Welcome to the forum.

If you love the way his system sounds, could be a great deal. Maybe someone who knows more about vintage gear will chime in and give their opinion.

In my opinion I doubt you will like the Mac speakers better than your Martin Logan.

I look at itlike this, the system is basically home theater, 20 years I'm surprised the disc player still works, it will not decode modern surround formats. The MX119 is a home theater preamp, it does not even have HDMI. So this stuff is no longer goodfor home theater. Even if you go straight to TVwith video the MX119 still does not decode even DTS-MA or Dolby D 5.1 for Bluray.

On the other hand, if you just wanted this system for 2-channel it may be worth it to you. I saw a used MX119 from a dealer for $1900.00. You can also research those model numbers on Hifi Shark - Used, Second Hand & Pre-Owned Hifi from 400+ Sources to see what others have asked in the past and current used ads if any.

Hope this helped some, welcome to the site.
