Fluorescent Lighting Replacement

I have 7 fluorescent light fixtures that I updated by removing the ballast and wiring the new bulbs direct.

These were located in the garage and home gym where my sub panel feeding my audio is.

With flickering, hums, efficiency and environment concerns I made the decision to change them out.

It cost about $8.00 per bulb and about 6 to 8 minutes per fixture plus need to figure how to dispose of the old bulbs.

Those ballasts weigh about 5 lbs and stay warm well after shut down.

Im not sure if noise has been removed the panels but things are a whole lot brighter.

A very simple project.

I was thinking of using fluorescent lights in my garage then I found these LED.
Nothing to install other than screw a light bulb. They work great.

I know of several people who have replaced fluorescent lamps similar to yours with LEDs like these:

I think that for garages, basements, etc. you should give LEDs a second look.

I would want to know what electrical approvals those cheap lamps have. The crappy Chinese ones are unreliable at best and dangerous at worst. Buy only from reputable authorized suppliers.
I wouldn't touch those Amazon lights.

Not sure which lights you are referring to, but I am now using the screw on bulbs with no problem. They completely changed my garage. No more dark areas anywhere.
I have no experience with the other lamps.

For what it's worth, I've found Philips bulbs to be the quietest, in terms of any noise introduced into the circuit or environment. I no longer purchase the inexpensive bulbs that are often on sale.

I agree, the Philips are quiet.
Noise can be a problem with LED lamps, especially cheap ones.
I have an LED magnifying lamp on my work bench that will cause audio gear to emit a barely audible buzz. I have to turn it off to test phono preamps it is that strong.
Even digital gear is not immune. I've had DAC's that wouldn't lock until the lamp was shut off.

This is an exception, not the rule with LED's. My house has LED lamp everywhere,m and no problems.
