During the last 15 months or so, I started to feel pain in my ears and headaches after listening for 2 to 4 hours at low volumes. Couldn't place my hands on this. Suddenly, one out of 4 Fathoms started making a crackling sound, switch that 10 inch woofers around and problem followed the woofer.
So happy that I found out that the woofers are becoming defective. 3 months ago I replaced all 4 drivers with JL 10 inches AE versions.
The age of my subs are 16 years with all the plate amps recapped.
The new AEs made such a difference in musical presentation and above all no more ear pain or headaches.
Had I known this I would have replaced my drivers at 10 years old.
