Ever pull up to a light with a Left Hand Turn land and light only to have everything turn green except for your left hand lane?
The reason is because the sensor pointing at that lane is set to look for more than one car in the lane to give it the Green arrow when the light changes. It is usually pointing to the second car spot so if you pull all the way up to the White Line or further, the sensor will not see you and give the green.
Trick-
Leave about 3/4 of a car length in front of your car and the white line. The sensor will now see you and think there is at least 2 cars waiting to turn and give you the light.
Give it a try. I figured this out a few years ago and it has worked 98% of the time I do it.
