Across the new Esoteric XD and Grandioso X products, what filters have you guys liked?

FS (none, 2FS, 4FS, 8FS, 16FS, DSD)
M1,M2,M3 (PCM)
F1, F2, F3 (DSD)

I’m liking 8fs, M2, but M1 provides more drive and punch. M2 seems more laid back and relaxing sounding.

What about you guys?

I have a K-01XD and play more classical than anything else. I find that strings and piano are the most difficult to get right. My current favorite for PCM is M1 Org, with M1 2FS a close second. To my ears this yields the best string and piano tone. For me M2 gives a slightly drier, more defined/processed presentation with a little less body at similar up-conversion settings. I like F1 for DSD and have for some time. When I make a change, the big test comes the next time I play music with fresh ears. Do I still like the new setting?

I can't answer the question, however I'd like to know which component alone yields the bigger improvement in K1X. The PS or clock?

I would say equal. The PS adds the foundation/bass. The Clock adds layers and smoothness.

And at a hunch, for about the same money as G1X, the PS + Cybershaft would bring more to the party than G1X alone.

I would buy a G1X tomorrow, but the Cybershaft has far more flexibility, meaning, I can clock the K1X (75ohm) and N20 (50ohm) off the same clock. G1X is 75ohm only. The difference to have both devices on the same clock sync at their proper spec is not a subtle improvement.

G1X is 50 ohm impedance. For short cable lengths it shouldn't matter whether you use a 50 ohm or 75 ohm clock cable. Esoteric say you can use either. The cables are identical, except for the connectors.

Right, I had that reversed. 50ohm for Esoteric and 75ohm for Aurender. It may not be a huge difference, but my audiophile OCD kicks in when it isn’t precise.

Aurender has a new clock coming out as well and it will have 50 and 75ohm connections.

My question is K1X + PS1 Vs D1X. [emoji848]

Well yes, the case for K1X + PS compared to D1X is compelling. I dare say you could get K1X + PS + G1X for about the same cost as D1X + P1X. Actually, probably cheaper.

I would love to know someone who’s compared K1X + PS1 Vs D1X.

There is no English review of D1X that I am aware of. To find a review of K1X + PS vs D1X, or somebody who has compared them, 'aint gonna happen.
