Well, guys, another great box set had arrived. This time, in 2 formats, a 3LP set AND a 5CD+1BR box set. So I just have to post BOTH in this Vinyl Thread. My apologies for doing this as think its better for it to be described all at one go.

Elusive will ship now while Amazon will ship in a couple of days later (10th Dec I believe). I will order from Amazon as while Amazon ships free if an order crosses the S$150 mark, plus charges cheaper for the CD Box set.

Here's the story:

3LP
In early 1974, after a three-year absence that followed Eric Clapton's major success with Derek and the Dominos' seminal album Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs, which sealed his stature as one of rock's most revered guitarists, a rejuvenated and musically refreshed Clapton stepped into the recording studio and staged a massive resurgence with his 1974/1975 trilogy of albums - 461 Ocean Boulevard, which featured his first No. 1 hit single 'I Shot The Sheriff,' There's One In Every Crowd and the live E.C. Was Here - standing as one of the most remarkable rebirths in rock's history. Those albums decisively cemented the guitarist as both a musical and commercial force, while successfully staking out an entirely new set of creative challenges.

To celebrate this watershed era in Eric Clapton's legendary career these three original albums, 461 Ocean Boulevard, There's One Inn Every Crowd and E.C. Was Here, have been meticulously remastered and are now available in this beautifully packaged, heavyweight 3LP set. Sounding better than ever they demonstrate a legendary artist at his most creative.

5CD+1BR Box Set
The 5-CD/1 Blu-RayTM disc box set Eric Clapton - Give Me Strength: The 1974/1975 Recordings is beautifully housed in a 60-page book and captures a full year's worth of recordings, from April 1974 to June 1975. Featured are 88 remastered, remixed, rare unreleased and live recordings, including session outtakes, from his landmark studio albums 461 Ocean Boulevard and There's One In Every Crowd, and his legendary live album E.C. Was Here. Also included is a new 5.1 Surround Sound mix of 461 Ocean Boulevard and original quadrophonic mixes of two milestone releases. 461 Ocean Boulevard and There's One In Every Crowd.

Give Me Strength: The 1974/1975 Recordings features a wealth of unreleased recordings and material including:

A 60-page hardbound book with extensive liner notes and packed with rare photos and behind-the-scene images.
Rare, unreleased outtakes from 461 Ocean Boulevard and There's One In Every Crowd.
E.C. Was Here remixed and expanded features live tracks from Long Beach Arena (including unreleased versions of Crossroads, I Shot The Sheriff, Layla and Little Wing), the Hammersmith Odeon, Nassau Coliseum and Providence Civic Center.
The Freddie King Criteria Studio Sessions featuring the previously unreleased versions of 'Boogie Funk' and the full unreleased 22 minute version of 'Gambling Woman Blues.'
A Blu-Ray disc featuring a new 5.1 Surround Sound mix of 461 Ocean Boulevard and original quadrophonic mixes of 461 Ocean Boulevard and There's One In Every Crowd
Extensive Liner Notes by John Lynskey

Being an avid Eric Clapton fan, although I have owned 461 Ocean Boulevard past releases (CD, SACD, LP), still I would want to collect these 2 sets.

Cheers!

E.C Was Here, is the one Clapton LP I always go back to. The stuff the last couple of years except Crossroads has been pretty disappointing.
