Hi tnvol54, welcome to AS!

There is a review of the Contour 60 in the current issue of Stereo magazine. The reviewer is using an accuphase E-370 amp with outstanding results.

The Contour 60 is on the top of my list in my speaker hunt. I currently can't find a place that has one to audition in the NYC area.

What other speakers did you listen to before making your selection and why?

I currently have a pair of older Mirage tower speakers that I have used in my home theater system. I am an old two channel audio guy who got pulled into home theater and I am tired of it. i have moved the TV out of the room and going back to two channel music system. I wanted a full range speaker system without the complication of using a subwoofer and had hoped I could find a pair I would be happy with for $5,000 to $6,000. I looked at a few of the over rated and way over priced B & W floor standing speakers. Cannot even begin to call them full range speakers. Listened to the Revel F208. Great bass but lifeless top end. Almost bought the Dynaudio Countour 30. Great speaker. If there are any doubts how bad of an investment $9,000 for a pair of B&W DM804 is, the Countour 30 will erase them!! The Countour line is not inexpensive, but listening to other comparably priced speakers has shown me what a great value the Countour line is. My Contours will have to slum for a while with my amp until I can afford to upgrade. I'm sure several people would snicker right now at my other equipment.

Thanks for the reply! No snickering on this forum! I'm sure you will get plenty of comments for any piece of equipment you are looking to purchase. Just let us know your budget for the amp and I'm sure the comments with start! ;)

Budget will dictate a lot, I've owned an older set of Contour 2.5 and very familiar with the line, whatever you get should definitely be high current. This new series is said to be easier to drive but I suspect it will still take some current to get them to perform their best.

As an example, a Parasound A21, in the $2500.00 range. Bryston would do the job. Pass Labs..... there's a big playing field to choose from. Merrill Audio offers some high current Class D amps from $2500.00 and up.

I owned a set of Revel F52 when the 208's came out I was expecting something really great, I thought the F52's were much better. People seem to like the 208 but I'm with you, it's not my cup of tea.

Thanks for the feedback Mr P. I wish the budget would allow me to go with one of those 200 watt amps from SIM Audio or Ayre
