Down with 2018. What did you do for Audio?

Hmmmm.... biggest change to me was the Audio Mirror 45 watt SET amplifiers and reworking my headphone setup completely with the Dennis Had Dragon Inspire IHA-1 amp and Focal Clear cans.... I have switched around several components but feel I have finally found/settling into what I like the best...

I discovered tube rolling and have enjoyed this with both the SET and headphone amplifiers!

Ohhh, I also discovered HQPlayer.... my digital life will never be the same! (Of course this lead to the T+A DAC8 DSD)
 
Got rid of the dCS Vivaldi stack.
It is the best audio move I have ever made.
Almost seminal for me......
 
You know what they say, the more you exercise... I plan to exercise my ears virtually every day!

Oh yes, totally.
The problem is that it replaces my Lumin in the top shelf of my rack.
I think it's going to be an arduous job between two people.
 
Added a SVS SB-4000 sub. Will add another this year. Don't really need more bass, just adding to help fill in a slight null, help subdue a peak and for effortlessness. Switched from belt drive on my table to fishing line. Me likey.

- Sent back to Switzerland soulution 501 mono blocks for 2018 power supply upgrade

- Aurender W20 with 2x 8TB drives (multi-thousand album collection combed by Golden Ear Digital)

- Deoxit Contact Cleaner (one of the first things that Stirling Trayle does on an optimization visit)





Upcoming in 2019:

My new analog adventure,

- Commissioning of a complete cosmetic, mechanical and electrical re-build of an Ampex ATR 102 professional R2R tape deck by ATR Services of York, PA. Same one used in some of the finest recording studios of the 70's and 80's. This one will be parked in Chicago residence.

The cheapest part of this pursuit will be the initial purchase of the deck!

Ansuz A2 with 2M Series X power cables. By far biggest improvement in my system. I’m a believer. And the ND5-XS2 streamer pairing to a SuperNait 2 with a HighCap DR and Dynaudio Contour 20 sealed the deal.
