No affiliation just passing along my experience.

I think I may have posted or mentioned the Teac UD505x which we hooked up to a Levinson 5206. We used a streamer into both DAC's as a comparison. To my ears I was shocked that I preferred the 505x. Some may prefer the 5206 DAC seemingly could have more detail but delivered in a brighter fashion. The UD505x was easier to listen to and more natural IMO. I just wasn't sure if the 5206 actually delivered more detail or it made sounds more vivid. To my ears the 5206 didn't provide anything more that would have me give up the more listenable presentation of the UD505x

Tonight I was at a friend's house who has the UD701n using the DAC into an Arcam SA30. Both does Tidal Connect so we compared the two DAC's. Guys this wasn't even close the 701 DAC was superior with no doubt to anyone of us there.

To clarify the SA30 has a built-in DAC. I believe the UD701n is more expensive than the Arcam SA30 so you might suspect the UD701n to be better but cost is not always a measureing stick. And, sometimes the differences aren't so much. In this case the UD701n DAC shamed the SA30 DAC.

The UD701n has a discrete DAC, variable volume with analog inputs and streaming player by Lumin. In fact, you can even operate it with the Lumin ap although Teac has their own.

I admit in past times the products under the Teac label leave me scratching my head but in the above products they are serious contenders with anything at the price point. I didn't get a chance to go through the UD701n thoroughly but from what I could tell it looks like a budget version of the N05xd.

Teac is excellent. We sell it at Suncoast audio direct. Still can’t believe how many cassette decks we sell. SMH.

I use a Teac AI-3010A integrated with built-in DAC for my living room / TV system. It's tiny, but supplies what I need for that part of the house.

TEAC owns Esoteric, and they share technology and manufacturing facilities. Consequently, TEAC can build more advanced products at given price point than many of their competitors. Esoteric is effectively TEAC's high end brand.

I've owned a couple of Teac DACs in a secondary 2-channel system. I bought my initial one (UD-501) new and the last one used (UD-503) at a great deal (and using that one as a preamp too). I am quite happy with them
