Yesterday Linda and I went to see the movie "Green Book" which is based on the relationship between Don Shirley and his "driver" Tony "Lip" Vallelonga during a Don Shirley Trio concert trip in the 60's. The movie was very good and introduced me to this accomplished musician.
So today I am hitting Tidal to give a listen to some of his works. Fortunately this album isn't pure Jazz which I dislike as much as Hip Hop. It's like jazz, but highly arranged like pieces of classical music. The first one is "Don Shirley Trio - In Concert" The album has pianist Shirley accompanied by cello and string bass. The trio plays standards such as "I Can't Get Started", "Yesterday", and "Georgia on My Mind".
