Do you choke up a little when listening to some songs?

I've noticed that sometimes I get a little caught up in the moment and whether it's the song, how I'm feeling, the event/surroundings of the singer or just how the vocals make me feel. If a song strikes the right "chord", I get a little choked up. Like that video that Kev posted last week of Kaylee Rodgers singing. Yes, maybe I'm a bit of a wimp, but isn't that the purpose of music? To move you?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes it is the emotion of the singer, sometimes it is the song itself.

This one chokes both my wife and myself up. Just when we got into this disk, my wife's father died. If I play the disk, I have to skip over this one still, 3 years later.
Transatlantic - Dancing with Eternal Glory

Here is a song that is on a Christmas Comp someone made for me years ago, since it is the last track, I usually stop the disk before it starts.

Absolutely! Let's make this a thread of songs that elicit emotions. This sounds corny, but every time I hear the love them from the movie "Cinema Paradiso" (the two tracks on Charlie Haden/Pat Metheny's Beyond the Missouri Sky are good examples), I recall the first time I saw the movie and the tenderness and love that existed between the little boy, Toto, and Alfredo, who ran the movie projector in the local town cinema. If you haven't seen the movie, I'd highly recommend it.

There are several songs that, just on hearing the first few notes, can make me break down, because they remind me of my wife.

Just like certain smells trigger memories, songs do that for me too. Thank you for sharing.

I copy the URL from the video in the browser and use the video icon (second to last) on the quick reply box and paste it in there. Click save and it pops up the window with the video in it.

How do you get photo of the YouTube link to be included in a post? When I do it only the link appears. Thanks.

Joe, that clip I posted did indeed make me choke up a tad. Other music does it for me too where I just get caught up in the meaning of the song & it relates to my experiences too or the song conveys the emotion of the story the artist is portraying

Kev,

I've played that video many times since you posted. It's sad how the world judges people on how they look, act, or talk even before they get to know someone. I absolutely love the way she (Kaylee) reaches for and sings the higher notes. She overcomes her shyness and autism to turn in a brilliant performance. Lovely little lady.

I didn't even realise that the school was for the gifted until you posted the article about them. There was a few give-aways when I watched it. Spot the little shite in the front row with a first name of Kevin!
