Disappointed with the Sigma Digital

No, I am not disappointed in its performance. After replacing the Alpha Digital on my Bryston BDP-1 with the Sigma Digital the system is now at a much better level. The background is now a black hole of quiet from which music emerges. Detail, tone, transparency, whatever, is much better. Now I am thinking of getting two Sigma HC power cables for my two Cyclops. Currently, they use Zitron Anacondas, which I can then move to each amp by replacing the amp's Zitron Pythons.

Where I am disappointed is in the unnecessary box the cable arrived in. This occurred to me when I first received the Sigma, and now I want two more Sigmas, but not the cases. I equate Shunyata with TOL performance at reasonably real world prices. Adding unnecessary bling just adds to the total cost without any audio benefit. Personally, I would be happy to get the Sigma cables as before, enclosed in plastic, and in a cardboard box for a few dollars less, or take the money saved by canceling the bling, and give the employees a bonus and party.

At least my Alpha Digital has a nice place to rest.

Of all the things to bitch about...It's not like the over-the-top custom wooden box that Durand ships his tonearms in. The box is so beautiful that I would put it on display and put the arm in the closet instead. I see more issues with high-priced gear being shipped in cheap cardboard boxes without proper packing materials than I do with seeing too much bling on packaging.

It looks typical, durable & not over the top IMO. Something like what WireWorld do. It may offer some better resale value more so than some of their past models. Box and COA matters most when moving it along as it helps determine authenticity.
