Hello! I've been using a Cambridge Edge A in my stereo setup for a while now and love it. I primarily use its USB input from a dedicated NUC or S/PDIF over coax from a CD player.
I recently took advantage of a sale and bought my first TV in a long time. It has digital audio output via optical and ARC, both of which are supported by the Edge. The problem I'm encountering is that with either transport type, the audio is choppy. It's like it drops out for a millisecond or two, not with any regularity, but on average every few seconds. With simple audio, like a newscaster's voice alone, the little blips might not happen. But as soon as the audio gets a little more complex, they come back.
Of course using the TV's built-in speakers, they work fine. But who wants to listen to those...
The optical and HDMI cables I'm using are new. The problem happens whether I'm streaming video, just audio, or playing broadcast TV from an antenna.
Connecting the optical cable to my Denon DVD player, I can play CDs through the Edge with no problem at all.
What kind of problem might cause this symptom?
The TV is a TCL 65Q825, which runs roku software. I've tried every combination of audio settings, including of course basic PCM/Stereo, and nothing solves this. I'm baffled, and concerned that I may need to return the TV. But having no idea what kind of problem or incompatibility I'm facing, it's hard to know if getting a different TV would be any better.
Any help or theories you could give would be greatly appreciated!
