Just curious if people outside of Philly really watch this crazy parade. I know it is broadcast all over the world because it is the longest running Folk Festival / Parade in the USA.

There are several different divisions and clubs, but the main attraction is mostly the String Bands. They practice all year and work on their sets and custom costumes 12 months a year and come Jan 1, they get to strut their stuff thru the streets of Philly for all the fans and judging for prizes.

Each band picks a theme for the year and then create costumes, sets, and music to go along with the overall theme.

It's quite a spectacle if you have never seen it. Being there Live is also a treat as long as you know someone that lives along the route so you can go to the potty and get warm now and then since it is close to a 12 hour ordeal.

Thanks for posting never knew they had a mummers parade. That was a big crew and well done.
They should go to Mardi Gras for a second show.

There are 16 different String Bands now ranging from small to large. If you search Youtube for 2015 mummers you should be able to see many more pretty cool performances. Nothing else like it anywhere in the world!
