Devialet 250 versus Chord DAVE

My journey to this question started with trying to hear more of the music in my system. I started with the Moon MIND and next migrated to the Mac mini server. I have Magico V2 speakers. I am currently demoing an Aurender N10 and it is fantastic. I recently came in contact with an audiophile that suggested that I may want to take a step back and instead of investing in a server, take a look at the Chord DAVE. He had purchased one and it radically changed his approach due to the sonic quality and the fact that the Chord DAVE was input insensitive with respect to its ultimate output. Does anyone own the DAVE or at least have heard it?

The Devialet is a great system but Devialet AIR has worked so inconsistently (damn frustrating)that I abandoned trying it over and over and there doesn't seem to be a real solution to the problem. The company seems to care more about Phantom/Spark and its development. Since I am currently demoing an Aurender N10 on my system, this is a great time to take a step back and see if it is a time for a change. Yes, changing to the Chord DAVE will cost me more up front, but in the long run it may be a better long term investment. I clearly need to hear the DAVE on my set up.

I'm not quite sure why this comparison would be made. Why run a high end DAC into the devialet when the devialet re-digitizes everything anyway? You would have to replace the devialet entirely and buy a new amp as well.

I am sorry that I was not clear, I would not run the Chord Dave through the Devialet. I would have to buy a new Amp. The DAVE and amp would replace my present system.

Have you thought about running a Lumin U1 or Aurender N100H into the Devialet? Running just the music server into the AES/EBU of the Devialet?

OK. You're treading dangerous waters here, first it's a new DAC, amp, then it's a source, then it's speakers. :panic: If you like the devialet, I'd stick with it.

Yes
I have side by side compared the N100H and the N10 and there was a significant difference, IMO. I compared the two with USB. The N10 has the AES/EBU connection but honestly the USB sounded better. I had two audiophile friends over to compare the N100H and the N10 and blinded them to which one I was using and they both picked the N10 and the USB connection. I played PCM, DSD and Tidal for them.

Thank you for the additional info. That make much more sense.
