Hey All ,

Any insight or experience with the ST-L?

I found the Definitive Mythos ST-L ($5000 MSRP) to be another contender.

No sweat; I read them few reviews and was pleasantly happy to realize what five grands can provide today, stereo speakers wise.
And I was going to post my link in the Frugal Audio Gear section of the forums anyway.
But when I saw your thread, then it was the perfect avenue; it fitted right on with the company (same designer guy) and the same price range (five grands).

All very worthy contenders! I've heard the older version of the DT Mythos and they are nice sounding speakers.
I've also extensively demoed the Golden Ear Tritons (the first ones). Also very nice and I almost bought them except I can't use powered built-in sub woofers and I'm not crazy about socks instead of removable grills. I found the staging and presence to be excellent. Not quite as efficient as the Paradigms, but more then the B&W Diamonds. I think that's due to the built in powered subs, so it kind of lessens the importance of that a little, but it is not a negative. Vocals are amazing on the Tritons and the Triton 2s look more refined and I may get a chance to hear them. The old Tritons take about 10 to 15 minutes for your ears to adjust to the tweeters, but once they do, they sound sweet. I'm anticipating the new ones to be just a little different perhaps even though the same tweeter is used. It's a ribbon type and quite well done.

Also take a look at the Paradigm reference line if you can. I demoed the Studios and Signatures for hours. I ended up buying the Studio 100s and have been happy ever since. I personally found the Signatures to be a little too harsh for me, but everyone is different. I know folks who found the Studios to be a tad too bright for them while I find them perfectly balanced.

Everything here is just my opinion according to my ears.

Remember, your ears and only your ears are the final judge and have the final say.

As I am sure you know they is a family resemblance between the DT's and the Golden Ear's, as Sandy Gross owned DT before he sold it and started Golden Ear.

Ah yes, that's right. I forgot about that. I spoke with him once about the Tritons when I was speaker shopping, nice guy.
