I was considering an OBX trip next September, but reconsidering that idea now.

Good luck to anyone in the Storm Zones. You can find refuge here in PA.

I think your OBX trip NEXT September will be fine. But the season is still young, so who knows. We have a few friends and relatives on Hilton Head Island that need to be worried about wind and flooding.

Well, as someone living in Greensboro, NC, and with my kids last night headed down to Myrtle Beach, SC, for the weekend, i have a report....it rained a bit down there, but other than a two hour delay due to fallen trees, they were fine, and now, the rain has stopped.

I am located at the very edge, out of the rain, some wind, but just sitting listening to my music, as usual. Hope all are safe, and the OBX will be restored soon.

Hurrican Hermine skirted by my home Thursday night. The eye wall passed approximately 35 miles to the west as the hurricane crept north/northeast. The rain came in torrential waves and the wind got up to 50 mph. I lost utility power just after 1:00 AM and telephone/Internet at 5:00 AM. Thank goodness I have a generator and transfer switch that lets me keep my well pump, house lights, some receptacles, refrigerator, and microwave powered. The utility power was restored about 1:00 PM yesterday and the telephone was restored about 3:00 PM.

I have tree limbs down everywhere but no trees fell over. Most of my 17 acres is wooded in oak and pine. About 2 acre around my home is grass. It looks like a war zone with leaves and branches down everywhere. I have several large oak tree tops that broke off and fell on my south side fence, and one large top of an oak tree down out by the horse wash station. I'll have to cut them into smaller sections with the chainsaw in order to be able to handle them. Sustained 50 mph winds for about three hours played havoc on the oaks and pines. Fortunate my home sustained no damage. I'll should have the mess cleaned up in a few more days if my back holds out.

This is what the radar looked like at 12:30 AM Friday morning. The black indicator is my location.
