D1 and Tidal speed

I recently signed up for the Tidal HiFi trial. I have it running on my laptop hooked up to the same router as my Lumin D1. Why are searches and the time before a song plays on the lumin much slower vs the laptop hooked up to the same router? On the laptop I tried both the Tidal desktop app and played via Chrome. The laptop from the time I click play to the song actually playing is 2 seconds where the Lumin is 8 seconds. Not a huge thing but I'm just wondering if there is a setting or something I am missing on the Lumin?

The time is required for buffering a part of the music, just like any streaming video does. As for the difference against a laptop, computer does have more powerful networking hardware and software, and can afford to have caches, and they do not necessarily buffer the same amount as Lumin does. The amount of buffering Lumin employs toke into account feedback from many users, some of whom do not have ideal download speed from Tidal regional servers. (Unfortunately, even that does not help users with really poor download speed, as you read from another forum.)

Thank you. I didn't realize the Lumin buffered that much before it starts playing. That makes a lot of sense and a good idea.
