In case any of you have been curious about building a speaker kit, I can attest to the quality and good performance of CSS Audio Criton speakers. I was COVID bored and looking for something to do so I built one of their kits. The crossovers are really simple to assemble with minimal soldering skills. Assembling the cabinet was easy. The sound of the speakers is excellent. I auditioned and or bought a dozen speakers in the last year in a half and these are the best to my ears. I just sold my Dynaudio Evoke 20s in favor of the Critons. They have a standard kit and one with an unharmed parts crossbar. Shortly after the enhanced crossover came out, they made the Criton-X with an improved tweeter and xover. I have the model with the improved crossover and am awaiting the X version upgrade. The speakers and crossovers can be built in one or two days if you like MDF. If you want a better finish, you will have to seal and paint the cabinets or cover with real wood veneer. I'd never done veneer so I just watched the Youtube video and went at it. The results were nice. A friend build a kit years ago and just turned the cabinets to an auto body shop for a nice piano black paint application.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this info in case you are looking for a project and would like a nice speaker for an outcome.
I tried to upload a pic but it is really confusing.
