Chord Dave Pre amp Settings For Use Straight Into Amplifier

Hi, I'm new here. I have a Chord Dave and use it with a pre amp and amp combination in a 2 channel speaker system. I'd like to try using the Dave directly into the amplifier, but I'm not sure what settings I should use. I know I have to use the Preamp setting in the Dave, and plug it straight into the amplifier, but not sure if there are any volume or other settings I need to set before trying to use the Dave as a preamp/DAC. I hope I asked the right question, and any help is appreciated. Thanks and Happy Holidays to everyone.
 
Just hold in the two buttons at 9 and 3 o’clock for about 2 seconds and it will switch to preamp from DAC mode. Leave your amp OFF until it’s switched and you turn the volume all the way down.

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. When you say turn the volume all the way down, do you mean on the Dave or the amp? I've never used the amp volume. Thanks, James

The dave. Your amp has volume control? Is it a integrated?

No, it's an aesthetix atlas stereo amp. I didn't think that the amp had any volume control. :) Final question, if I turn the volume all the way down on the Dave, how do i control volume when playing tracks? (I use an ultrarendu and Roon.) I really appreciate your help.

The remote that comes with the DAVE.

this may sound nuts, but i've been hearing about German 'philes driving Voxativ speakers directly off the high-level outputs of their Hugo TT DACs (and presumably, Dave DACs?). I guess you could try this with yer Avantgarde as well. This was no accident, Chord designed a few of their DACs to do this.
 
Yeah
For sure turn amp off, then switch Dave to Pre mode and using the Chord remote turn the volume down. The Dac mode volume is +3 and you want to turn down to about -47

Thanks for replying. I'm using the Dave into an Aethestix Atlas Eclipse, at around -24 volume. At -47 the sound is almost muted. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry for what must seem like a silly question. I'm new to the Dave and using it as a preamp. Enjoy the Holidays!
 
I meant at -47 being a safe spot to start. My listening volume straight into the Vac was usually in the - thirties and twenties also. Sorry about he confusion.

Did you feel the sound to be lighthearted with the DAVE used also as a preamp? Does the music need more body (mid-bass)?
