At my first audio show I was amazed by the sheer number of manufacturers and wondered how so many could stay afloat, let alone prosper. Now the landscape is shifting: giants like Harman and Masimo are scooping up respected high‑end brands, and even boutique names such as Gryphon have been acquired (in Gryphon’s case, by Goer Dynamics). It’s easy to see why—many of these high-end audio firms are small, their founders are aging (possibly without clear succession plans), and manufacturing is far cheaper in Asia than in places like Denmark.
