CD cleaning/repair

Hi folks, I'm getting ready to load about 500 CDs. Many are old and have been mishandled. I have seen solutions, and even small machines claiming to clean AND repair damaged CDs. Suggestions please. Thanks!!!!

Alkaline water is a great liquid to clean them with as it leaves little or no residue, recommended by First Impression Music.

...That's what I use (I have over roughly 20,000-25,000+ discs: CDs, SACDs, DVD-Vs, DVD-As, BDs, DADs, SADs, CD-R/RWs, ...).

* "Damaged CDs"; what kind of damage?
