Hello fellow music lovers,

As I've learned a great deal about the importance of AC Outlets and Power/Noise Filtering, thanks to Mike, as well as speaker/room setup, thanks to kiwi ( Ralph ), and isolation devices/platforms, thanks to Nelson.

Yet, the one area that I've not covered is the one regarding cable lifters/risers, and can only imagine that quite a few of you've your tales to share, and I'm looking forward to learning about which options are worth investing in?, as I'm aware of there are ones from the likes of Cardas Audio - Shunyata Research - Audio Revive - Isoclean Power - Cable Elevators and of late the ones pooping up from CA Electronics, if I've missed any?, please fill me in on what to look/listen for in pursing these, and no, I'd like something a tad bit more advanced then those made by Mapleshade.

I'm all ears, and am open-minded enough to except all truths on said matter.

Please advise, and thanks for your responses in advance.

I use the Shunyata lifters, and I cannot say if there is any audible improvement. Every Shunyata interconnect, power cord and power conditioner I have added has been an obvious improvement, but nothing with the cable elevators. Maybe because they were the last thing added.

However, I think they improve the appearance enough to rationalize the modest, by cable standards, price. :)

Hi Bud,

Thanks for taking the time to respond, and you should know..........., I loved the part about their appearance. I'll certainly be taking all of this into account before committing to anything over the next few weeks.

Cost wise, I guess I'm looking to keep say between 6 - 8 of them, under $600 the set.

Thanks again for chiming in.

Tried the Shunyata V2. Sent them back. They are light & hollow & tip over easily. Designed with carpet in mind. The extrusion finish is inconsistent given the carbon loaded plastic formula. IMO looks cheap like from a $2 shop.

Settled with the cableisolators.com. Reasonably priced. Great consistent finish. I use a combination the large classic ceramic & ESD. The ESD can be double stacked & they are stable. Both work great & they really do make a difference even with timber floors. The Shunyata didn't do anything but the CableIsolators took away grunge & muddiness from the background.

Cables should not rest on carpet as their will be a build up of static along the cable.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for weighing in as well, as mentioned, I'm researching every possible option within my means, and have in fact seen both of the cable lifters you've referred to, and do take into account what each of you're saying, and please know that all of it, is greatly appreciated to say the least.

Oscar... The power companies use ceramic to this day when you look overhead. :D

The ceramic isolators used in combination with ESD, helps balance it all out.

Steve,

You know something, that's a very valid point you've made there. I knew I loved being here for some reason, you guys are the best.

i used both and happy with each one
Shunyata are more safe to handle, you drop by mistake the ceramic cable isolators and bye bye lifter, :)

Good point Nelson,

But I'm one of those super anal retentive types, man I even set up everything in my room, by measuring the distance and height and centerline before installing anything including photos, so I'm very unlikely to drop it.

But it seems that I've a few things to chew on over the next week or two, but as always, this seems to be the place where I can count on friendly, and meaningful advise.

Thanks guys, you make it all worthwhile.

You know...I was concerned with if they worked, more so than looks. So I made some home made ones to see if I could hear an improvement....I was also, at the same time wondering about my interconnects touching one another..... so I had a bunch of foam that was used in the box my new water heater came in, so I made cable risers as well as cable separators for the interconnects and power cords. To my amazement, there was an improvement is clarity as well as sound stage. So I can say they do work. But Steve, thank you because I was wondering about the Shunyata V2 and those at cableisolators.com. You've made it clear for me.....cableisolators.com may be the way to go for me. Oscar, the CA Electronics lifter are ceramic I believe and look good. Also, some guy has about 9 of the Cable Elevators discounted at AA if your interested.

Hey Brotha B,

There you are, first off I wish to thank you publicly for turning me onto this forum, I Abso!utely adore the fit, and I do recall you mentioning your experiment elsewhere, and seeing the end results, yet it's one of those areas that I've to once again, study long and hard before going one direction or the other, as I merely prefer to do things once and be done with it.

I guess my next move should be to contact my sources at both the Cable Company and Music Direct to see if I might be able to get a loan on both, and go from there!, but as I've told you, my journey has reached its end system wise, but a few well chosen tweaks/mods here and there only enhance what's in place. I'll look into those CA Electronics Elevators you've mentioned.

Thanks little Brotha.

Peace.

Nelson...you seem to be in the know being in the business....

Can you take a look at this video and notice the guy has some round little cable separators under and around some of his cabling to separate his cables. Can you kindly tell me if you've seen these on the market someplace or is that something home made.
Thanks.

Byron,

If I may?, those appear to be smaller rolls of styrofoam tubing much like the ones you're using, but sealed around instead of with cut outs. But as the eyes are getting olde much like the 56 year old legs, I might be wrong.

Nelson, what's your take?.

Byron,

If you're referring to this ad?:

Ceramic Cable Elevators - Audio Asylum Trader

Those can be found on eBay, for a whole lot less, olde boy is on something, when all people have to do is google this sort of stuff, the powers on the internet and Google can't be beat, if one knows how to read?.

My bad B,

But looking at those even closer, and I still might be wrong?, but they look like the foam coverings that's found on women's hair rollers, now that's my olde school side showing, but you know what?, everything seems to repeat itself at some point, and finds other uses.

Food for thought.

Hahahahahaha! Hair rollers? Man that was funny! I'd have to send my daughter out to get a pack, cause I'd hate for some one to see me buying hair rollers....lol!

hahahahahahahah, hell ( I'm joking ), but they do look very similar to hair rollers young man, still let's see what Nelson or others have to say?, before you put your daughter through that.

Be well young Brotha.

Byron,

As I've been looking at a few more of this guys videos, I can say one thing, he has money to burn, and seemingly good taste in toys and music.
