My lovely Setup MC1.2Kw, C2500, 802D, MCD1100, Denon AVP A1HDA is awesome.
But when going back from from the Homecinema mode (passthrough) the Volume is at 70% !!!
When You forget to turn it down it is loud like an explosion, it happened twice to me :-(

Is there a way to avoid this ?

Wow Mischka! Awesome system. I still lust for the MC1.2KW's.

Doesn't the use of the voltage triggers avoid this? My only problem was having to shut everything down and then turn on the preamp again if I wanted to listen to music after a movie. Maybe the 2500 is different?

Is there a minimum and maximum volume setting on that pre? Most have it but not familiar with Mc preamps just yet.

In my case, i prefer to calibrate my Denon avr with my c500t on 50 without activating passthrough mode. So no risk to blow away my Sasha ;)

i asked on a french forum, and 2 2500's owners reply that they have no pb with passthrough mode ; their units keep in memory the last volume position for each source, even coming back from the homecinema mode.
Perhaps your unit needs a software reset ?

Mischka, before I split my system into A/V and 2 Channel, with separate systems, whenever I turned on my MX136 processor it then turned on the C2300 in passthru and the volume was controlled by the MX136. To get into 2 channel, I needed to turn off the MX136, which turned off everything. I then just turnedon the C2300 which had the last setting volume that I had previously used, the triggers for the amps go thru the C2300.

Hi

Anybody knows how to update the firmware in the C2500? I'm having issues with USB audio playback and so McIntosh emailed me the file for the update but without instructions on the process.

It's the weekend and I won't able to reach someone until Monday so I'm hoping someone on the forum would know how.

Mischka.......Make sure you are using a stereo mini jack cable for Pass Thru, not a mono cable. What is suppose to happen when the C2500 is triggered with the Pass Thru signal is as follows: C2500 is powered on and the input you designated is selected. The volume is automatically set to unity gain. This means the output voltage of the C2500 equals the input voltage. When turning off your home theater processor the Pass Thru signal is turned off and the C2500 turns itself off. The next time you turn on your C2500 it should return to your last used input (not the Pass Thru input), and should also return to the volume level you last used (not the Pass Thru volume). This is the way the C2500 should operate with a McIntosh home theater processor. I am unfamiliar with your Denon AVP A1HDA, so no idea what may be happening with its Pass Thru signal.

Additionally, the Denon allows you to set the gain for each source. Also the startup volume level can be preset.

The C1000 also allows you to adjust gain. Perhaps the C2500 does also.

So, you should never get into a situation where volume levels are mismatched across sources after entering or existing passthru mode.

Or you could try triggering the C2500 using your multi channel amp like I do.

I have the Marantz pre/pro triggering the Emotiva triggering the C2500 triggering the MC452.

Works perfectly. No issues.

Yep, This Denon has 4 trigger points which can be programmed not only by source but by mode at a granular level.

I use all 4 triggers to manage the not only the passthru operation but activation of the multi-ch amps depending on the source selected. Eg. Internet radio from Denon only requires passthru without multi-ch amps.
