C1100T Prototype on show in Hong Kong.

I have the feeling that the C1100 is a replacement for the C500 and a step up in performance. I suspect a C1000 replacement is on the way or at least being considered.

AM123 - did your dealer give you an idea of where this new 1100 fits in the line? Clearly the new competitive pricing is going to cause more than a little confusion. If the 1100 is clearly a step up from the 1000, then it will be a bargain.

I was told by Mcintosh that this the replacement.

They always will list old and the replacement items on the site. Look at the C2300 and C2500, they were both listed for a few months until dealers could sell their stock and then the C2300 was removed and replaced with the C2500 permanently.

Replacement for C1000T?

Damn!

Steve's post is dated 8th of August. Here we are at 19th of November. Has anyone acquired this unit yet? If yes. Any news to report?

As to the aesthetics, I am glad Dan encouraged me to purchased the C1000 and very glad that I did. It pairs wonderfully with my MCD1100 and MC2301s (4) and two more in storage.

I have it. It is much quieter than the C2300 and C2500. The low end is incredible. I have replaced all the tubes with Gold Lion except for the 2 dedicated MM tubes. I am breaking them in now. Since swapping, the sound is better.

I have only auditioned the MC input and it sounds great. Will follow up with more details later.

Congratulations AM123. A friend has one too. He LOVES it. HE says it's much better than his C500T.

@AM123. Curious, if it becomes or is already available. Do you have plans to purchase the solid state component as well?

David,

I don't think McIntosh has ANY plans to introduce a solid state module for the C1100T. The sales for the C500P module was very low.

David.......The new McIntosh C1100 controller has no provision for operating a second solid state preamp. The C1100 has been designed as a two box tube preamp. According to word from McIntosh there is no C1100C/T solid state version coming because their sales of the C500C/T tube preamp out sold their C500C/P solid state preamp 8 to 1.

As for a replacement of the amazing C1000C/T/P statement preamplifier, McIntosh is playing their cards close to their chest about that possibility. I know one thing, I won't be replacing my C1000C/P for anything.

There will be a new DAC coming. There is a cable that comes with the unit that will control the new DAC, when it comes out. I plan on buying that as long as the specs are good and the price is acceptable.

:)
