HI Folks,

Not a week goes by that I do not get a request from a customer about where he can get a Bryston BCD-1 CD Player and I get chewed out for discontinuing ours. I had no choice as the drive we used was a dedicated CD Drive (as opposed to a DVD Drive) and Phillips discontinued them.

Anyway I have found a new CD drive that performs very well and wanted to get an idea from our customers as to whether you think a dedicated CD Player from Bryston is a viable product given todays computer based options.

With Oppo dominating the market from a price to performance/feature standpoint, its tough to make a regular old CD player a go. What would be nice would be a digital stack - CD/SACD player/transport (must be SACD compatible) with external DAC (DSD capable) and streamer. Of course, if you made it tube based, then you would really have something! Better yet, the DAC part you could offer as a tube version or solid state. The Bryston Reference Digital Stack has a nice ring to it. BNC digital based between the units. Bryston BNC reference digital cables! Offer CD ripping capabilities to an external storage device consisting of two 4TB drives (one main, one backup). The external storage uses the CDDB database. NOW we're talking! Charge way too much (otherwise audiophiles won't believe its good), use the term "resolution" a lot in your European marketing and you're rocking!

Four pieces - but must have SACD and DSD capabilities - otherwise, as they say, fuggedaboutit.
