Bryston BOT-1 (Bryston Optical Transport)

Will this have ripping capability? Might be wrong but a universal ripper I guess SACD excluded would be cool.

Thx

Hi James,
if a person had a BOT and 2 BMS units, would it equal the length of either the BDP or BDA? That way it could be stacked on one of those units and look cosmetically appealing.

Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance but what is a BMS unit? Also do you think the BDP units would benefit from an outboard power supply?

Thx

Hi

BMS just stands for Bryston Mass Storage,

Some of our customers said it would be nice if they had an enclosure that they could install a hardrive in that would match their Bryston gear.

No the BDP1 has more than an ample power supply for its job internally. It just when you start adding devices like the BOT the BDP2 has the advantage due to its more capable power supply whereas the BDP1 does not.

Hi Mark,

Not sure on that - it is a BlueRay drive and we have plans to expand its ability to play and rip DVD's etc but will ask engineering on SACD - I assume it will not.

SACD is really proprietary by SONY so they will not allow you access to their bit-stream - so it would have to be converted to PCM - no point in that.

Also confirmed by engineering NO - SACD

james

Ps _ I guess I should cancel the project.

Looks like an interesting project to me James. I would also consider the BMS.

Please continue to share info as this set of products develop. Do keep as part of the program the integration of all this stuff via Manic Moose or some sort of music/file management solution.

Thx!
