I have an opportunity to buy some demo SST2's at very good prices. Can any Bryston owners chime in as to bang for the buck vs. other comparable amps? I will drive them with the Pioneer/TAD S-2EX's I just picked up from an AS memeber. They are 6ohm speakers with a sensitivity of 86db. I listen mostly to classic jazz at moderately loud volume due to a hearing loss. If not Bryston, then what? Preamp-wise, I have a CJ ET3SE and a Muse Signature 3.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Rob,

I am using 28's with my GAT. It is such a wonderful combo on my Strads that I keep coming back to it from other gear.

Bang for the buck with Bryston is off the chart awesome and the warranty is the best, bar none. Plus, you will have the opportunity to upgrade in the future should you want it.

Rob,

My 28's are pretty neutral, NOT aggressive, ever so slightly sweet on top, tremendous bass and control, and reveal everything up stream. With my CJ preamp, its flavor comes through and adds more of what I love back in the mix.

Joe,
How do you compare your Bryston Amps to The CJ amps you own? do you prefer one over the other?
I appreciate your feedback.

Hi,

That's a really difficult question to answer. It really boils down to tube or solid state. Both do things the other can't do. I am primarily a tube lover but I run my system so much that all tube all the time is not practical. That's where the beauty of the 28's come in. They give me the best of solid state and a touch of what tubes have to offer. The 28's are some of the easiest amps to listen to, especially for long periods. My CJ ART monos are still top of the food chain for tube gear. I don't care what anyone says, even you Audio Research lovers, my ART gear kills. If you don't mind the tube maintenance, CJ ART all the way. If you have any hesitation, Bryston 28's are probably not only the best value out there, but some of the best sounding amps all around.
