Azimuth on Mono Cartridge

Anyway to set azimuth on a mono other that eye balling? Currently have a Dorian mono but my arm, Michell Tecnoarm, does not allow azimuth adjustments but I was thinking of changing arm for one that allows azimuth adjustments but I have no clue on how to do so.
 
The Fosgometer with a 1000hz test tone record should work. Better to ask Jeff Whitlock of AV Solutions though.

Doesn't work Mike, not exactly sure why but output is always even on both sides.

Hope these guys chime in then, in all fairness I'm just curious as my mono arm does not have azimuth correction capabilities but there must be a way other than eyeball.
 
Dan.....On a stereo cartridge the Fozgometer reads channel separation and gives you the difference between the two channels via the meter, your goal is for the widest channel separation with the least amount of crosstalk and by the alignment (azimuth) adjustment you accomplish this. When both channels via the meter read the same then you have accomplished this.....with a Mono cartridge both channels should read the same because there is no channel separation, both are the same. I would eyeball it or use a small mirror. Hope that helps.

If your needing to make an azimuth adjustment but don't have a way to do so then a shim out of thin material could be used between the head shell and cartridge.....me i wouldn't stress over it, your not going to damage or ruin anything. Unless your sound stage is all jacked up just let it be and enjoy :)

Thanks Jeff for the explanation, I had figured that both channels were the same therefore Fozgo was a nogo for mono (brain has been acting strange lately:bonkers:) but I really wondered if there was another way to set it other than eyeball. If I'm not damaging the records then I will just let it be, I'm really not into shimming a tonearm.
